Searchem safe measuring

I came across some stupid cheap new searchem safe on amazon.

250g for like 5bucks. It says it treats 50,000 gallons haha.

Anyways 5 grams (1tsp) treats 200 gallons.

My math sucks, and I don't wana super prime my tank (its a 20 gal)

Can someone help me break this down.

If I had a python, how much weight (in g) would treat 20 gallons.

I usually use a bucket, for sake of curiosity, how much weight would treat 1 gal/3gal/5 gal?

I have a scale (for science) that weighs .00 accurately, so to the thousandth of a gram.

So if I wanted to weight out just a gallon, or 3, or 5, or even 20, what's the weight im looking for on the scale.



Thanks guys, it is honestly worth the trouble when you factor in the savings.

Btw safe is just stupid concentrated prime, same company.

1grm = 40 gal

1/2 grm = 20 gal

So .25 for a 10 gal

And .12 for like 5?

And then about .06 .2.5gal?

So about .03 per gallon, or am I being special with my math?

My scale won't go that far, so is it safe to round .025 to .03?



That means about .08g per 3gal.

Searchem won't answer the question because they said it wasn't worth the effort or the risk, but im going to try it out..

You can also get a bottle and make it concentrated. If you use .25 grms and add 10 ounces of water. Mix we'll let sit over night and the use one ounce per gal

I agree with this method. It's the safest way to go about using this product.

The one thing that differs this from prime (my bad sorry guys) is that this doesn't have the stabilizers the liquid form does.

I read on the played tank somewhere that if I made a bucket, and kept it circulated via airstone, that would work, but mixing it and storing does not work.

Just dose the whole volume of the tank before or after adding the new water. All you need is half a gram then. I mix it with some water before adding it, help dissolve it properly. **** this stuff REALLY stinks!!!!

I don't have a big bucket, and am scared to dose and add water till full....never done that always added 3g prime at a time..
