Hey guys,

Currently I have a 10 gallon tank running a sponge filter. I bought a HOB filter for another 10 gallon tank that I plan on setting up and I want to seed it using the current cycled tank.

I put it on, but between the HOB and the sponge filter, there is too much surface disturbance. I was thinking about moving the sponge over to the HOB and using it as a prefilter until I got the HOB ready, and then hook it back up to the air supply once I set the new tank up. Will this affect my current tank by moving the sponge filter to the HOB for a few weeks?

Should be fine to move part of the sponge from the sponge filter to the HOB filter to help seed it. Just test ammonia in case.
