Someone told me that If I didn't use colored lights for my aquarium that my fish would lose their color or to quote him " wash out the color". I don't know so I'm asking lol

I dont think they lose their colour, but coloured lights will enhance the colours of fish and plants.
Fish usually lose colour when they are stress, so maybe if you had lights which are too bright for tour fish.

They might be referring to the actinic lights that are used in marine set ups which bring out the brilliant colours of marine fish. If you use daylight tubes with freshwater fish, that shows up their colours.

Calico fantail , a harlequin rasbora and 2 yellow glo tetras . No plants

I would say tropical pro. Its a pinky colour. But normal daylight bulbs would be fine.

There talking about the glo tetras, they will eventually lose their color without the attinics i believe.

I had some colored white skirts that are just white skirts now.

Ive had glow lights in my tank with white daylight bulbs for over a year and they only lost their colour at night
