Hey everyone...

I noticted that my Serpae Tetras' fins are all looking a little raggy.

It is very possible that they were like this from the store.

I bought them about a week and a half ago now. Maybe even two...

It seems that Serpae tetras may have fin issues? At all the pet stores in town their fins are all like this.

Is this normal for serpae tetras? if not, will melaflex fix this? I will check my water parameters, but last time I checked it was

ph- 7.2 ~ 7.5
Ammonia - 0
Nitire- 0
Nitrate- 0

Then tank has been up and running for about 8 months now.

Any advice will be apreciated!

Thanks in advance :)

Oh yes,

I thought it would be usefull to know that the tan is a 40 gallon...and currently there are 7 serpae tetras and soon to be 10!

Thanks mama :)

It seems that...these fish have a history of niping their own fins...I wonder once I reach 10...if maybe the nipping of the fins will let up?

Will treating my whole tank with Melafix harm it?

Treating the whole tank won't hurt the tank. Strange though, my serpaes don't have that problem with their fins.

Neither Melafix nor Pimafix will harm anything in the tank, including the biological filter. I've used both products numerous times.
