Took well founded advice here, and got a new light fixture for my 42 Hex. Due to the top, which I had to modify and cut new glass for, I had some size restraints. Got a Current USA Satellite dual lamp fixture. This comes with 2 bulbs, + a moonlight and fan. The first bulb(s) is what they call a dual daylight fixture which puts out 6700K and 10,000K. The other bulb(s) is a dual actinic, putting out 420nm and 460nm.

From what I understand, the actinic is useless for FW plant growth, and may even promote algae growth.

So, if I want the best plant growth I can get, should I lose the actinic bulb(s) and replace them with another of the dual daylights?

Advice appreciated. And, I don't think the AH Supply bulbs will work with this fixture, but please correct me if I am wrong.

Do replace the actinic bulb. And as long as the wattage is what AH Supply sells and the bulb is a straight pin bulb they will work.
