Mickey Mouse Platy's usually have red gills. Google some images and you'll see

That's what I thought but wanted to be sure. I can't see the pictures very well but is that a white sport or a white bump.

Definitely looks a bit skinny when Did you notice this spot? How has the fish been behaving? Is it eating normally?

Hmm well im guessing its some kind of bacterial or parasitic infection. Was he skinny when you got him? Have you tried treating him with anything yet?

You could try some ich guard its not just for treating ich it can help treat other illnesses too worth a try. Do you have a separate tank for sick fish if not it usually doesn't harm the other fish while using the ich treatment i have never had any fish die from it or get ill should be alright to add it to your main tank. Also another good med to try is melafix its great to use when adding new fish to a tank and Ive used it to treat just about everything. Just make sure you don't over medicate your tank always add a bit less than what it tells you to use.

Don't put him in a breeder box, it would stress him even more.

Check your water also. Clean water is super important. Test test test.

You may want to check Craigslist for a used 5 or 10g to have as a hospital/QT tank.

Around 5 gallon. Not more then 10.
