I can agree with a 55 being too narrow, but it is manageable at least for some time. They do grow fast, but not 2-3" to 1ft+ overnight after all. What about Exodons?

My O would lay on the substrate and pout/sulk for hours if I moved things around inside the tank. I'll never forget walking up stairs one night around 3-4am peeking in the tank with a flash light. I had just done a heavy clearing and WC before bed. Popped the light on and there he laid. I was terrified it was dead until I touched him haha.

And mine(6 inch female) decided tonight was a good night to see how my thumb tasted while feeding...

Weird feeling Bruh... scared me to death when she charged at the hand.

Told you they hadn't eaten yet.
Starve them out for another day or so.
Many do not recognize them eating when they go through the gravel or spit food out .
It is part of how they eat in nature.
I keep these guys in BB tanks so food in the sub is a huge unexpected treat for them.
Today is Thursday.
I'll say if you both starve your rams till Saturday and offer frozen(thawed) blood worms you will watch them eat in front of your eyes.
They made it to you both!
They are good tough fish so don't baby them more then they deserve.
They will eat when they are hungry more then nervous!

Have you tried live black worms? My female was eating them off the bottom an hour after being added! She picked them out like she was a cory cat. dove down into the sand to grab the worm and came up with a mouthful. Not sure if my male has eaten yet though. Just some food for thought. pun intended

Good luck with the frozen on Saturday. I would starve mine, but I may have added my 1/2 tsp black worm culture so starving them now is not feasible. It might sound like overfeeding, but I made sure to direct most of the worms away from them so the worms have a chance to burry themselves.

I'd love to see more pictures of your loach tank! I'm really interested in kuhlis, they're just so cute!

So, the female ram looks like she's trying to dig/clear out a spot in the corner of the tank. I've seen this behavior before somewhere....

That's a beautiful angelicus!(and keyhole too!)

Female ram appears to have chosen a spot, made a sand-bowl. I have some frozen brine shrimp thawing in the tank. Attempt #2 to feed!

Edit: They're eating, and I can see her ovipositer clear as daylight! EXCITEMENT!

Thanks sinibotia!
Awesome finally eating! I knew they would come around. My BR's were pigs as soon as I brought them home. Also I'm glad I finally found people that love loaches as much as I do and don't label them as those "freaky eel things".lol.

Kuhlis are my favorite fish, one of the first I ever kept a bunch of years ago. Currently have them in 2 tanks

WOW that was quick! Talk about your all-time quick recoveries!

Good news: They aren't eating them
Bad news: They're white, so I presume unfertilized
