Small white worms everywhere in a friends 40gal, not sure how to get rid of them

Oh wow, someone needs to keep up on their maintenance, I see many water changes in your friend's future. The problem is likely caused buy lack of cleaning the substrate and the planaria population has exploded. Several large water changes with a thorough gravel vac should do the trick, but they need to keep it clean to control the buggers.

Yeah those are planaria. Over feeding fuels them. Cutback on food and do more water changes. Birth eyre harmless though. Just ugly

I think they're cute. I'd keep them. But it is a sign that the tank needs cleaning.
