I have a 55 g and started seeing snails in the tank. How did they get there? Haven't added any new fish in months. Will they hurt my tank? How do I get rid of them?

Have you added any new plants? You can squash them. You can bait them with a lettuce leaf. You can add a fish that eats them. Loaches are great snail eaters. What kind of fish do you have?

Added 1 YoYo loach to my 20H and have seen a dramatic reduction in snails.

I am assuming that you now have added live plants to the aquarium. If so, what is the wpg of the tank and what type of plant(s) have you added?

You can remove them manually by putting an algae wafer in a small container overnight and remove the snails and container in the morning and repeat as necessary. Or you can get some yoyo loaches as mentioned and they will eat the snails.
