I have a cycled 20 g. tank with 8 tetra (minor, black skirt and diamonds) one Retite olive snail and a few RCS. My numbers are perfect! I notice that the tank water is getting a brownish ting to it. I took the J hook off of the filter and flushed it with tap water, and dried it off, while putting it back in the whole tank lid fell into the tank, light and all. The jest of this whole story is that my tank's water is starting to get brown. What can that be and how do I get rid of it? The other thing is that I would like to get more snails. How many can I have??? Retite that is. Your help is needed and appreciated!!:thanks:

If you could start by providing actual numbers for

Ammonia
Nitrite
Nitrate
pH
Temp

Is this a planted tank?

Do you have any form of wood in the tank?

Hey, okay
amm. 0
pH 6.8
NitAte 0
NitIte .25 to 0

I am so lost...

By the lack of Nitrate and the presence of Nitrite I can only assume your tank has not finished cycling.

Have you any wood in the tank? Mopani or driftwood?

Jon

How long had the wood been in the other tank?

It could be releasing tannins into your water.
