My boyfriend and i are planning on buying some fiddler crabs in about 3 days.
We have the tank all set up properly ( 29g with internal filter.. and about 2 inches of water with plenty of peaks.. and some land areas. )
Just some confusing information on the internet.. i was wondering if someone could clarify..
1. Is there any possible way to make brackish water without a hydrometer. We plan to buy one when we get the crabs.. but is there any kind of a rule we can generally follow ( ex. 1 teaspoon per gallon ) So we can add some salt now.. so it can clean and filtered before the crabs come?
2. I've heard many contradictions about how many and of what sex to have. For a 29 gallon.. and no plans of breeding or anything.. how many should we get.. and how many of each sex etc? ( this will be an only fiddler crab tank btw )
3. Is it true they will eat ANY kind of sinking pellets ( goldfish , betta, tropical .. whatever walmart has on sale ) or should they really have a diet?
any other hints or suggestions would be very helpful too!
thanks,
