splintery driftwood

I found a few pieces of wood today. I've sprayed it off and wedged it into a plastic tub to soak for a while.
My question is if the splintery ends of the wood are going to be a problem? I thought I read somewhere that plecos will 'file' them smooth. Am I remembering right or should I do something else with these ends?

I only foresee a problem of you have fish with flowing fins or poor sighted fish that could become injured.
