Sponge Filter

i have a mini sponge filter with an air-pump in my 5g tank with a betta, mystery snail, and three ghost shrimp. after about 2 days, i can clearly see debris and waste building up around my sponge as well as a slimy whiteish coating on my tubing. how often should i clean my filter/tubing and how should i do it?

Hello ath...

Small tank filters should be serviced weekly. Large tank filters can go a couple of weeks between cleanings.
