It's fungus, which is harmless but it is normal for driftwood. It will take several weeks to several months for enough organics to leach from the wood for it to stop developing.
I agree with Hukit.
I could not figurate from the picture, but if is fungus, white spots, I did experienced the same in my tank sometime ago.
The first time I just brushed out, and put the driftwood back into the tank. So if the spots bother you, just brush it off, not need to boil or anything extra.
