After a horribly failed attempt to keep African cichlids in which I became so frustrated in a fit of rage everything was given away, I have decided to begin a 29 gallon freshwater tank.
I'll purchase the tank on Friday, so I've got some time before the fish are added (including the gut wrenching gravel substrate decision), but I'm thinking about a Tiger Barb tank. I'm well aware of avoiding long-finned, slow-moving fish (your betas, guppies, gouramis, angelfish, etc.), but I haven't been able to find a reliable and consistent compatible tank mate list. The red tail and rainbow sharks are consistent fish on this list. I have read this forum's article on Tiger Barbs , but feel my question is still unanswered. It's not the end of the world if it ends up a species only tank, but I'd prefer to see some variety. Also, if you have some ideas for a good stock for a 29 gallon tank that doesn't involve Tiger Barbs, I'm all ears and would love to hear your suggestions!
