Hello everyone!

I'm setting up a new 20g high tank and I know a few of the things that I want in my tank but I wanted some input on a centerpiece fish for my tank.

He's what's going to be in my tank:
White sand
Moderately planted
5x Threadfin Rainbowfish
5x Kuhli Loaches

I was thinking about perhaps a Bolivian or German Ram or maybe a Dwarf Gourami.

What do you guys think?

20g Fish

You could try:

  • Apistogramma
  • Peacock Gudgeon
  • Kribensis Cicklid
The others you mention would all work as well.

I highly suggest not putting kuhlis in a 20g high tank. A 20g long would be fine, but with a high tank there's less floor space and that's what's important to kuhlis. Especially with plants around they'd have even less room. If you want kuhlis, I suggest getting a 20g long instead.

I would saaay

>6+ threadfin rainbows
>1 honey dwarf gourami (Their care can be moderate, so make sure to do research on them)
>3 otocinclus catfish (instead of the kuhlis)
>1 Peacock gudgeon

I think that setup would look beautiful on white sand.

Also, if you don't want to do a honey gourami, I would suggest a sparkling gourami instead. I think you can get more than one sparkling gourami as long as they aren't male, or they'll get territorial.
If you want different ideas, let me know and I'll try to find something.
Good luck!
