My 20 gallon long tropical tank has currently has only 5 neon tetras, so I want to slowly get some new fish.

I'm thinking:

7 neon tetras
2 German Blue Rams (1 male, 1 female)
5 julii cory cats
3 male guppies

Does that sound a little full? I could stick with one GBR, but I'd rather have a pair. Would the GBRs be ok with the cory cats?

I can live without the guppies, but I don't want the top to be too empty.

Suggestions? Comments?

I think that's a fine stocking for a 20 long. I would add the guppies last so you can see how the tank looks without them and then decide if you want to add them or not. I think the neons would be all over the place and fill out the top nicely, especially if you have 7 fish living in the bottom region of the tank. :)

Sounds good, thanks. I think I'll do the neons first, then corys, GBR's, and guppies.

I would go with either 1 ram, or two of the same sex. Or if you definitely want the pair, skip the cories. I don't think the footprint of the tank allows for a breeding pair of cichlids and other bottom dwellers. The neons are going to be down in their space as well.
