Stocking First Community Tank

Hi

I'm currently cycling my 36 gallon bowfront and trying to decide on fish to stock it with. It's a planted tank with a variety of live plants.

My tank is fairly tall, so I don't have a huge amount of swimming room.

I'd like a nice little mix of species, so far I'm thinking something like:

6-Corys
6-Barbs(Gold, Rose, Cherry)
1-Gourami
any other ideas

Does this sound like a group that would get along fairly well? Is there any particular order I should be adding fish? Anything missing?
