Currently in my 36 gallon my son and I have 5 Zebra Danio, 6 Neon Tetra and 3 Albino Corycats. We are looking to add another 3 Corycats and want to add some color along with a center piece or 2. I was thinking 6 mollies or platys for color and maybe an angelfish and a dwarf gourami as centerpiece. Opinions and advice please?

Proposed Stocking:
5 Zebra Danio
6 Neon Tetra
6 Albino Corycats
6 Mollies or Platys
1 Angelfish
1 Dwarf Gourami

Mollies and platys have huge bioloads, so you cant get 6. If you wanted i think you could maybe get 1-2 and then the rest of your stock should be ok

IMO, skip the Mollies/Platies and enlarge the Danio and Tetra schools a bit. BTW, the Neons may become snacks for the Angel.

My only issue with skipping the platys and getting more danio and tetra are the abscence of colour

Many "types" of Danios will school together as they are all Danio Rerio:
Zebra,
Golden,
Blue,
Leopard,
GloFish...
There is a lot of variety in the Danio Rerio world.

Are there danio or tetra that have the burnt orange coloring of platys?

What about skipping the platys and adding a couple dwarf gourami instead of one? Would that be possible?
