i am changing gravel for sand in my 75 gal freshwater aq.
i want stones for decore. whate is the purest stone i can use that wont pervert the water perameters?

Slate, quartz or granite are non-reactive. Some gemstones such as jade or onyx are also non-reactive. Diamond is another but I think thats out of everybodys budget!

is stained oak wood good to put in a tank

What do you mean by stained? Stained with a wood finish or varnish? This would not be aquarium-safe.

It would probably Float anyway. Varnishes even Cured would leach into your tank
