2 weeks ago my tank(45 bowfront) started growing a ton of green algia , before that it was brown(seems I get more green in the fall)so I did a large wter change and added a 1 1/2 " brisslenose
he has eaten stripes in the green stuff all over the tank
next I guess he will have to connect them , boy does he eat a ton
will have to start growing some algia in a jar for him soon
I also feed my fish with kens green crumbles with has a lot of algia in it
I tried to take a picture of the stripes but there hard to see in the picture :D

They also eat meaty food like pellets and flakes. Also, driftwood is good for them. Another favorite is blanched veggies like zucchini.
In my younger years, I had a CAE who are algae but only on half the tank at a time. So, like one half would be green, then the other, and he would rotate. Then he got older and didn't really eat algae anymore.
