Stupid Betta Question

I have several tanks set up a 55, 36, and a 25. My partner the other day bought Bradley the Betta and a 1.5 gallon tank (small but way better than he cup he was in for weeks until he got him), I know most people here say no less than a 5 gallon tank but until money is avialable for a 5 will Bradley be happy?

Yes he'll be content my sisters fish lived in a bowl for a few months before I convinced her of getting a bigger tank and he still looked content and swam happily!

Maybe instead of getting him a 5, you can give him even more space by adding him to one of your exsisting tanks? Bettas can do great in communities..depending on what they are stocked with already, of course.

Otherwise if a 1.5 is all you have for him, then that is all you can do I guess. You'll need a weak heater to heat something that small. The Tetra they sell at Walmart for 2-15 gal tanks works good in tanks that small. I've had probs with these heaters being defective out of the box and have had to exchange..but they are the only I have tried that will work in a tank that size. Make sure you use some cycled filter media from one of your other tanks in the 1.5's filter so it's instantly cycled.

I agree...if your other tanks are peaceful community tanks, he should fit in nicely. I have mine in a 150 ltr with phantom tetras, corys, cardinal tetras & until recently platys. I exchanged the Platys for the cards, they were stressing the other fish with their bickering...all except my betta, who flared at them when they annoyed him lol.
