Submersible pump issues

Hi everyone,

I just have a quick question for anyone knowledgeable in pumps. My last tank cracked and my submersible pump ran above the water line for some time before I found the tank. I have now bought a new aquarium and I'm using the same pump. In the instruction manual it says to not run above the water level.

It seems to be working fine, should I just purchase another one to be safe and use the old filter media?

Or should I see how this pump goes?

I would test it in a bucket for a few days, that way you can monitor it's performance.
