alright im looking for a darker substrate but is also good for bottom dwellers i found black beauty that is epoxy coated so its not sharp? what do you guys think or should i go for a more natural rock substrae if so what dark bottom dweller friendly ones are there
thanks-david

Black beauty is fine. Black onyx sand from seachem is good for a planted tank. Tahitan moon sand also but that's like buying gold dust lol but it's not any more expensive than seachem, it's actually cheaper.

Sounds like what you have found will be fine for you LostLoach, unless you want a heavily planted tank (with live plants) in which case you might want to go with a substrate specifically designed for planted tanks.

Those would include two of Seachem's substrates, Flourite Black Sand and Onyx Sand. (One small correction to what Crepe wrote, Onyx sand is actually a medium grey color, not black. Flourite Black Sand is the black sandy substrate produced by Seachem. The Onyx is only available in grey AFAIK, unless they've added a second color version of it in recent months.)
