Tank Background on filled tank

Hi all,

So I have a 46 gallon planted bow front. When I changed it to planted I added a black vinyl background since I had it empty and could move it. In the two weeks since it's been running, the background has bubbled and started coming off.

Any ideas on how to either fix it or add a new one to a tank you can't move and has less than idea access to the back? I see some people say they tape like poster board on it, but how good does that really look?

Any ideas are welcome!

Are you talking about the adhesive kind of background?

I used vinyl previously that you have to use the spray adhesive on. I used baby oil instead as I read that works much better.....which it didn't.

I think I'm going to just get a step stool and a paint roller with extension arm and roll a few coats of latex black on it. can't think of any other way.

That would work. Or you could just get a standard aquarium backing. They come in plain sheets that you can just tape on to the back of your tank.

Thanks. Yeah I didn't want to do the tape cause it's not flush to the glass and just doesn't look the same. I am going to gamble and hope I don't fall into my tank or paint the carpet behind it while doing it lol.

I'm not a huge fan to be honest. Some are really nice, but I'm planted and the plants will hide most of it.

I'm not a fan either. They don't look any more natural, and they take up valuable real estate. I've seen some bad ones where they have got covered in algae- especially BBA.

I have a black trash bag on my 125 and it looks pretty good! Check out my album if you want to see a pic of it. The only thing i dont like is that it reflects quite a bit of light.
