Tap api ph test

So my tap tests off the charts but my tank tests around 7.4-7.6, why???

pH in a tank can actually drop, regardless of the pH of the water from the tap. I do have one question. When you tested the tap did you do the 24 aeration before you tested?

No, now that you mention it.. I really shouldn't test until after the 24 hrs huh??
 
Straight out of my tap the water reads as 7.6 and after the tap test it will test at 8.8. I have heard of tap dropping pH after the 24 hour test. Just really depends on the water in your area.
