im planning to buy a 60 gallon tank...what is the recommended thickness of the glass that i should look for??jus one of those " best buy" stuff thanks

Hmm...I don't think you'll see a lot of variance in the thickness of the glass in tanks of the same size. AFAIK, everyone pretty much uses the same stuff until you get into custom built tanks. I would think 1/4" glass on a tank that size would be sufficient. You might find one with 3/8"...I kinda doubt it though.

oceanic tanks are the best 3/8in thick. this is more expensive and heavy but this tank is not breaking. :D

if you think 3/8th's is heavy you should try moving my 135g 1/2" thick OMG I smashed my finger and it turned this really great purple and black for about 2 months.
