I had really wanted to get some Dojo loaches. I saw them yesterday at the petstore and was tempted to get a few.

The petstore has them in a heated tank. I did some quick research online and read that a tropical heated environment will shorten their lifespan. I could keep them in a tropical tank and have them for about four years or I could keep them in a cold water environment and they could live about eight years.

My question is has anyone kept them successfullly for years in a heated aquarium?

I am also considering Axylotyls and wondering if they would be compatible?

Thanks

I have not kept them in years. I believe the normal range for dojo loaches is 59-77 degrees F.
Axolotls require cooler temperatures (no higher than the low 70s). Sand or bare bottom tank (they can choke and die from ingested gravel). As for compatibility with dojo loaches, even though they share a similar temperature range, the bio-load from the dojo loaches would a big negative.
