Ok so I have done some research and got some LFS advice but Im not sure how much to believe. I am coming to yall now with my questions and an idea.
Questions first:
1) Is purigen as miraculous as it seems?
2) Is Matrix really any better than any other bio stuff?
Now my idea. I cant afford to do this but one day I would like to.
A sump/refugium/canister filter hybrid.
You could use dual pumps to extract and return water from the tank to a tank set underneath. In the lower tank you could have a plastic storage shelf that it drained directly into and drill lots of holes in the bottom of each shelf to drain to the next layer (mechanical, bio, and chem if you use it). Then it could flow into another compartment in the tank that would have lights on all sides and on top. Then you could grow water sprite or water wisteria in it and duckweed on top to clean the water. Thoughts?
