This is Absolutely CRAZY!!!!

People put bettas in a bowl with shrimp and snails? Does this ACTUALLY work if you clean a lot? If so, I'll add this to my fish collection for sure!
I heard from about 3 sites (don't remember what) that said either:
option 1:
-1 betta
-a few ghost shrimp (I know the betta might eat these)
-a black mystery snail

option 2:
-3 white cloud mountain minnows
-some ghost shrimp
-a mystery snail

I thought this was unbelievably overstocked and I was surprised people do this?
I ALWAYS thought betta needed more than this!

Depends on what size bowl, and not very good for a Betta, Need some very good plantings to help water stay clean, , and a nano heater filter is a good suggestion.

1-1.5 gallon isn't good enough.

I have a 2.5 G bowl with snails and cherry shrimp and 3 gallon jar with a pair of White Cloud MM and cherry shrimp Ramshorn snails, a couple pond snails and a little Mystery Snail.

The WCMM are in there temporarily and going back into the 16G tank when I get a free day. It was a fun planted bowl /jar thing, plus I had a new batch of Platy fry which needed a little time to grow up and not become fish food, so it was a little vacation for them. Here are some pics.

A couple months ago there was a thread about planted bowls which was very fun, checkout the search feature for it. I would look it up for you but I have to get to work!

Wow... now for the questions:
-Are ghost shrimp or mystery snails that messy?
-How often/ how much clean
-Price for a 2.5 gallon bowl

Ghost shrimp have minimal waste

Apple AKA mystery snails are quite messy but with water changes it should be ok

I think that only a beta should be in a 2.5 not wcmm
Why not just go with a 5 gallon?

Bowls are cheaper money-wise and my mom won't let me get a tank. If we do, she's getting a 5 with 2 guppies, 1 platy, and 1 dwarf molly (if you've never heard of dwarf molly, search poecilia chica).
