Tiny whit specks in water?

So I've had a tank for about 5 months now and I just got a new hood for Xmas. But I noticed that when it is on, I can see a bunch of tiny white specs in the water, that I'm pretty sure are bubbles because they mostly go away when the air pump is off. So is this a bad thing? Should I turn my pump off?
