I recently purchased a baby turtle(RES) and it's about an inch. I have a heater for the water and the light and stuff. I've been thinking about adding some fish. I'm going to put a lot more water in there tonight to run the filter and pumps. I created a turtle/fish tower. It's made out of 3 tubberware bowls and they are glued together and will be filled with water and they have holes in them. This is going to create a place for the fish to go into if they need to, and a place for the turtle to bask on top. I also have a fake ceramic drift log type thing, and I ordered a java fern. I'm hoping this works out.
