ugf's for lfs's gravel tanks

since i worked at petland for a couple days i got this idea how to put a small ugf under all like gravel tanks and you can just siphon the crap out through the place where the tube is suppose to go? this might be expensive, but will it work?

You mean as in like hooking up the water intake for the filters, or just during a water change with a siphon? Either way, a lot of the solid waste is still going to lodge itself in the top parts of the gravel, and need to be cleaned from above.
