For awhile I just thought that I had slightly yellow water, but I just figured out my lighting was NOT helping!

My hood's light bulbs went out so until I can go to the store, I put 2 lava lamp bases over my fish tank for light. One of the bulbs is really clear, and makes my tank look really clear, the other makes it more yellow.

What type of bulbs (15 watt) will be clear and not yellow tinted?

Probably something in the whiter end of the color spectrum, like 10k on the Kelvin scale or most brands like GE just say white on the boxes at Walmart, you'd have to match the size and threads of the lava lamp bulbs though

Okay got Mini Florescent 10 watt (6,500K) bulbs

Oh my tank looks SO much better, and NOT yellow! I am so happy, hopefully it will help my horrible excuse for Java Fern grow!

Should help a lot. 6500k is recommended for plant growth. Good luck!
