I'm guessing that the water flow travels through the core of the cylindrical ceramic tube whilst the external pressure in the chamber around the ceramic tube forces gas through the ceramic tube and in to the path of the water flow.

Is this correct?

Haha thanks. About 5 mins after I posted that it began to work. It was like a snow globe so had to back off the bubble rate. Much better distribution of co2 and the bubbles are really fine.

Edit: used in conjunction with a spray bar.
