Upgrading filter

Hi I have just ordered/upgraded my current filter- Aquael ASAP 300ltr Filter internal foam filter to Fluval U2 as i have read good reviews from it and find the current one is unreliable.

What I need to know is how long should I run my current filter alongside the new one in order for the bacteria to build up so it can run on its own?

Any help is appreciated

Was gonna buy u2 as well but the I went with undergravel filter hooked to tetratec aps300, I have very large surface area for the whole bacteria colony to live bellow the gravel and thrive, only have 60l biorb life

I would run the new one with the old was as long as you afford to. At least a few weeks at a minimum.
