Urgent!! Can filter floss go in my strainer?

PLEASE REPLY QUICKLY!Have a Aquatech 10-20 filter and am wondering if I can put a small peice of floss in my impeller strainer to keep fry from getting sucked up?

I would be worried that it would get sucked into the filter. Maybe you could wrap it around the outside with some string?

You would be better off using a sponge like the ones they sell that fit on power heads. Just slip it on that's all you need to do

Until you can get a sponge, if there is a female in your house who wears nylons you can cut the send of a nylon off and rubber band it over the strainer. It's only a temp fix but I've done it in the past and it works for a quick fix.
