going away for a few weeks-

what do you recommend for feeding them-

also need to know what would be good for 3-4 day trips

55 gallon tank with 20 fish -

thanks

Species???
It would make things alot easier on your fish if you had a trusted friend or family member to do your feeding while your away.
Most fish are ok going 1 or 2 days without feeding.

How long exactly? Fish can go 1-2 weeks without food. If you have young/juvenile fish it would be best to get someone to feed them. Measure out each feed in advance do they don't get over fed.

5- long skirt tetra
5- blue neon tetra
3- platy
7- guppies
no young fish
should be gone between 10 to 12 days

They will be fine! :) Feed normally the day you leave and do a water change. Feed normally when you return.
If you want you can have someone feed them once in the middle.

a water change before we go- wow the list is piling up!! LOL
thanks for the advice- we have one of those 10 day tabs - will it hurt to toss it in the tank?

Better off without it. They can break down and mess up the tank pretty bad causing ammonia spikes.

will do - thanks for info- I guess the dogs are lucky we take them with us!!
BTW - like the TV tank build.

got back on Sunday and the fish did fine - we do have an algae growing on the plants and decorations - any thoughts? I will do a separate post also

thanks

Steve

Goodness... that's a long time. 8 hours is more than enough... 14 is just begging for algae. Are the two you took the pictures of live? They almost look non-aquatic
