Picked him up at Petsmart, and hes in a 55 gallon, so plenty of room. He was one of the first in the tank though.

GBRs from Petsmart are likely from breeders that use hormones to get the fish to show colors at an earlier age. These fish tend to be more aggressive. Also, adding the GBR first probably didn't help (it's best to add your most territorial fish last). And as Brookster mentioned, a month-old tank (even fully cycled) isn't enough for rams and they need more plants and hiding spaces.

As was mentioned earlier, some individual cichlids are just predisposed to be a-holes.

Get rid of the troublemaker, get the rest of your tank stocked, get more plants and driftwood and, a couple of months later, get a GBR from a good breeder.

If you really want to keep him, give the re-scaping suggestion a try. This should be done before you any any ciclid to a tank with another ciclid. The tall decor suggestion is spot on. If gives the other fish a chance to escape the aggression and easier for them to set up smaller territories to control. Add the GBR back to the tank last after moving stuff around.
