Does anyone know why my water lettuce is yellowing? Is it to do with the light, it is quite bright?

Light could be one of the variables, but I used to grow water lettuce in my koi pond. Sometimes it was beautiful, and sometimes it was just raggity. I assumed that the koi were just eating the roots off of it, but I would perk back up for awhile and then look raggity again. I never did find a cause. I did notice the new baby plants that grew from the runners always looked better than the older plants.

Likely a nutrient deficiency, they can grow in dim light and in extreme light.

Thanks for the replies guys but I have my water lettuce in an aquarium with Neon tetras and guppies so I don’t think they would eat the roots. However mineral deficiency may be a factor I use API leaf zone but I think that is only absorbed through the leaves not the roots.

Leaf zone is basically water, the water lettuce is starving.
