Water storage??

How long can Primed rainwater or Primed tap water be kept and still be safe for the fish and plants?

I have a 44gal plastic drum which I want to store water in ready for when I do my WCs.

The drum is stored inside so it is not exposed to temperature or any other elements.

Any info would great.

Cheers,
ozmo

I let my ten gal that I filled with mostly tap water sit for two days and the chlorine was down to zero. Get a testing kit and test it fit chlorine.

That is not the issue here. And aerating/letting water sit out doesn't do anything with chloramine, which is what most municipal waters contain.

If it is aerated (not just a water pump, but actually aerated with an air stone) it should last a lot longer than it should ever need to (much longer than a week, which is how often water changes should be done).

I do this as well. 35 gal plastic holding tank with a small heater, powerhead, & airstone.... Something similar to this:

Leg Style Storage Tank, 35 gal. - 2137324 | Tractor Supply Company

PWC water on tap, always at temp & ready to go.... When you use some & top it back off, just add enough dechlorinater to cover what you added.
