I just saw a small little see-thru looking snail on a plant in my aquarium and I was wondering what it might be? I've never had snails in this tank before so I guess it hitch hiked in on a plant or something a while ago...It's small...goldish and I can see all of its organs and antenna.

Would it he harmless if I just left it in there? I'm assuming so...how big might it get?

Well assuming its a pond, many people hate them. They can reproduce quickly if you overfeed. They wont get big at all

I only see one...and assuming there's only one it couldn't reproduce right?

They can actually. I think the word is asexual

Snails aren't bad for your tank, although if you're overfeeding, they will over-reproduce. They do a good job of munching on any algae and picking up some of the food the fish miss, though. I like them, but I can't get any to reproduce in the ten gallon tank--the shrimp and fish eat the eggs before they hatch.

Does it look like this:

Or more like this:

Or this:

Talking more shape than color, obviously. Each have their good points and bad points. :)

Well hopefully there won't be any agamogenisizing going on in the tank but I guess ill leave it and see...thank you. It does look like one of those pong snails...I just can't get a clear picture of it its so small

Pond snails are cool--some of them get pretty. I have a gorgeous one wandering around, but I'm a little biased towards snails *lol* Just feed enough for your fish without any really left over, and watch for egg deposits--they look like little clear sacks or tubes (I had one that looked like a U with both ends connected to the glass  ) full of eggs. You can remove them, or your fish may eat them.
