what does he eat?

I just got this fish and was told he is a red striped SAE and he eats algae. But so far (60hr) I haven't seen him eat anything and he won't feed on my tetra flakes. Any ideas?

It's a denison barb. Also know as a rosealine shark. I have 3 of them. I feed them flakes, blood worms and brine shrimp. Here is a pic of mine
