One of the (almost) miricle animals you can use for a cleanup crew is nerit snails. They are not too big, most fish leave them alone, they don't eat your plants (unless they are dead), they eat several forms of alge, and in fresh water, they can't reproduce and take over your tank (they generally require brackish water).

But as some people have reported, they can be prolific egg layers... and they carry a tube of super glue to glue them to plants and various tank surfaces.

What are some other tank mates that might enjoy dinning of nerit escargot?

Fahaka puffers love any snails. I have one and he eats any snail he can. Although he is still small and large snails arent on his menu atm they will be soon. Also you can try any other FW puffer, but they can nip your other fish if they arent quick enough.
