What is the best temperature for my tank?

Whatever it is set to now is probably right

I think in most cases a stable temperature is more important than the "right" temperature. And with that many different kinds of fish I can't imagine there is a "right" temperature for all of them.

Most people keep their tropicals between 78 and 82o F.

Yes, very true! I have a goldfish stable at 80F and he acts just fine, if not better than in the coldwater range he was supposed to be in (52F-72F). If you're in the temp range for the fish and can keep it there without hassle, then you're at the right temp. No need to worry.... especially if your fish are fine.

ok thanks. I have it high right now because I am treating ich but will let it drop back to 80F.

Just remember that a slow change is best. Don't drastically change the temperature. 1-2F a day is usually suggested I believe.
