What’s this growing on my java fern ?

If you are concerned about the pictured stringy root-like growth. No worries. That is how Java Fern reproduces. Sooner or later a baby java fern will develope and splinter off the main plant.
The pictured dark spot is probably a sign of an aging leaf.
