A couple of days ago we came home and all that was left was a skeleton.I had recently got frustrated with algea and added some stuff to kill it.Would this stuff kill the Plecos?Would the two Pictus cats we have kill him?I figured he had allready died and they just ate the carcuss.I didn't realize the Algea kill stuff wasn't supposed to be used in a aquarium with live plants. So far it hasn't killed the plants or the algea.

Plecos are sensitive to some types of medication. The medicine probably killed it, then it got eaten...

There is no way of telling at this point. The only chemical that is safe to add to a tank is dechlor.
What are the water parameters?

If we get another Plecos, are some types better than others for cleaning up algea. This one was about 2 1/2 " long and black in color. We had him about a year and he never did grow much. What type and how many would it take to keep the algea down in a 30 gal. tank?.....Thank you
