What's Up With My Red Top?

So basically, I've just spotted some damage to the side of my Red Top..
I've no idea how long it's been like this but the fish is acting and eating fine.

Here's the best picture I could take;


It just looks like some scales are either missing or frayed.
It is a rather.. amorous.. fish...

I have a hospital tank but it is currently occupied by an Acei.

Any ideas guys?

Yeah he's fine, I have no idea what happened to him in the first place but it went away just as quickly as it came..
That's Cichlids for ya ?
