I have a aqua clear 20 (as many of you may know by now!).
I was told to remove the carbon bag that sits between the sponge and bioMax.
I have been searching all day and I cant find any of the cut to fit foam that Old Scales recommended.
The best I have bought today is:
1. the replacement sponge from agua clear
2. Azoo filter sponge (mechanical filter medium)-cut to fit (made from non woven fabric).
3. Elite hush 35 filter foam (which is thinner than the sponge from aqua clear).
Please help!

Really, you could use just about anything. The carbon isn't really necessary in an aquarium so it's not something you will need and is free to replace with something else. I just went and picked up a $1.25 pack of yellow and green foam pot scrubbers to stick in my new canister and they are working very well. Just remember, the smaller the pores, the faster it will get clogged up but the more it will filter debris from your tank.

Its up to you. The black will hold BB more effectively while the white will polish the water more effectively. Neither choice will be wrong it's just whatever you want.
