I just purchased a piece of mopani driftwood for my aquarium (for my new clown pleco mainly). I boiled it before putting it in. I just noticed a white film. I am assuming this is normal. In researching I am getting mixed answers, seems some people say its fungus others bacteria, which is it? Is it good or bad for tank? Is it ok if fish nibble on it?

I say it's a fungus. Mine got it for a few days but disapated within a day or so. It's not bad for your aquarium, just let it be and it should go away on its own

It's just the bacteria in the tank eating the new nutrients that you have provided for them. Once all the nutrients is gone it will go away
